Hello SMS Families! It was wonderful seeing so many K-8 parents at the Elementary and Middle School conferences on Thursday. Thank you to the PTA for providing a delicious pizza lunch for the K-8 faculty! HOUSEKEEPING: Wednesday, 3/21: 10th & 11th Grade: It is imperative that students arrive ON TIME to school for PSATs and SATs. They will need to be prepared with #2 pencils, and a graphing calculator. No students will be permitted to leave school early without express written consent from a parent. PARENT NYC SCHOOL SURVEYS 2018:  It is very important that you take the time to fill out your survey, either online, or in paper form. This give the DOE and SMS valuable information about how YOU feel about YOUR CHILD'S experience at SMS. It only takes about 3 minutes. Please see…

Hello SMS parents and students! It's hard to believe it is already March. I have attached both the HS March calendar and the Elem/MS March calendar to this email just in case you didn't receive it last week. I'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to the SMS PTA for sponsoring Friday's Media Literacy Day. Thank you to all the parents who braved the ugly weather to be at the Parent Workshop (I have attached the Parent Media Literacy Guide to this email). Michelle gave so much for both parents and students to think about; I believe it was a great jumping off point for deeper conversations with our children. Michelle will be sending me additional information to pass on to everyone, so stay tuned!   HOUSEKEEPING: 8TH Grade…

Welcome back SMS families! I hope everyone had healthy and restful break. I look forward to seeing all of our students tomorrow. Before we look to the week ahead, I just wanted to share the great things that happened in the days before break began... We had a fabulous "PREformance" at the high school with soprano Allison Charney, cellist Rupei Yeh, flutist Carol Wincenc, and pianist Craig Ketter. Students were spellbound, and the artists all took a few moments to discuss their own personal challenges with the pieces they played. Thank you to the performers and thank you Dean of Music, Andrew Copper, for bringing them to SMS.    Our K-8 had an amazing time at our 4th annual Musicians on Ice trip to Chelsea Piers. It was great seeing…
